An award-winning coffeehouse in the heart of Uppermill has announced it is opening a new cafe and pizzeria in Greenfield.

Weaver & Wilde cafe and bistro first opened its doors on Uppermill's High Street in 2019 and has accumulated several awards to its name while earning its stripes in the village as a top coffee and dining spot.

Owners, Cal and Thomas Rowson-Codd, also opened a grocery shop, Weaver & Wilde Groceries and Provisions, but were forced to close it just over a year since it opened due to poor health and a wet summer.

Then in October last year, Weaver & Wilde relocated out of number 30 to just down the road, in the former All Wrapped Up building at number 42, as they had "outgrown" their former home.

In May, a Mediterrean-themed bar and coffeehouse, called No.30, opened in the vacant premises.

Now, Cal and Thomas have announced "exciting news" as they plan to open a second venture in Greenfield this week.

The pair said: "We are not sure whether we are wired quite right, but I guess we are.

"We have been asked to take over the former Scona site in Greenfield and we have said yes."

Scóna Bakehouse, in the Greenfield Centre on Wellington Road, closed earlier this year after eight years in business due to "increasingly challenging times".

Blackbird & Wilde will now take its place, officially opening its doors this Friday (October 4) to serve "all things pizza and brunch".

The cafe bosses said the new place will be "a little sister" to their main cafe and will use its existing supplier partnerships, including Darkwoods Coffee, Tea Keepers tea and Blendsmiths.

The cafe added: "Keep your eyes peeled for more.

"The team at Greenfield are excited for their new adventure and welcome you back into the coffee house & pizzeria with a smile and the same great service you expect from us."
