An Oldham-based charity which helps people remember and commemorate their loved ones has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Life for a Life was founded in Oldham in 1999 and is currently based in Chadderton.

The charity helps people to plant memorial trees and install memorial benches which allow people to remember their lost loved ones.

At a ceremony to celebrate the anniversary this week, a tree was planted, marking Life for a Life's 25 years of helping people grieve.

Amongst those in attendance were director of Northern Lily CIC​, Victoria Holden, and Mayor of Oldham, Cllr Zahid Chauhan.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Cllr Chauhan said he was "honoured" to have planted the tree marking Life for a Life's 25th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Ms Holden said it was "lovely" to celebrate the anniversary of an "incredible organisation".

Across the last 25 years, Life for a Life has planted more than 13,000 memorial trees and has donated more than £1.6m to various causes and communities, including hospices, hospitals and healthcare organisations across the UK.
