Bee Network said the disruption was due to a crash, and now a picture has showed the extent of the crash.
The image shows a white van crashed into the side of a tram at the junction between Rhodes Bank and Union Street.
In the picture, the van is shown to have sustained major damage to its front, with the bonnet being mostly crushed.
The crash meant passengers had their journeys disrupted for around one hour and thirty minutes, while major delays remained in place once the scene was cleared.
