A woman from Shaw has been given an award celebrating her work with an independent market.
Julie Webb founded Shaw's Independent Market after she worked with the Shaw and Crompton Parish Council to help organise the Christmas markets.
She then discussed the possibility of a monthly Sunday market in Shaw and realised that many residents would like the addition.
With that, she began her work organising the inaugural market and used her career as a market trader to help her.
Julie accessed her expansive network of fellow traders and the trust she had built up in the community meant that the market was quickly filled with vendors.
She now has been awarded a Civil Appreciation Award (CAA) from the Shaw and Crompton Parish Council.
It is the first CAA the council has given, with them presenting Julie with the award at The Royal British Legion.
Julie said: "As proud and happy as I am with the gratitude, it's not why I do it, I do it because I love it."
The 69-year-old does her market differently to most, with the signing up done on a basis where she insists on speaking with each trader before allowing them a stall on the market.
She does this to ensure that the market is tailored individually to Shaw and its residents and make sure that the market upholds its positive community atmosphere.
Julie said: "I love planning the markets and the traders that I have trust me.
"If there's a problem they know anything can be changed, I can tweak it or talk to them and because I am a trader myself, I know where they're coming from.
"All I want is happy traders, and we have some who do very big markets and events in Liverpool and south Manchester who will tell you that this is their best market.
"That really makes me quite proud, because it's not about me it's about the traders and the customers, they come first."
Shaw's Independent Market is held on the fourth Sunday of every month in the Kershaw Street East Car Park from 9am until 4pm.
