A beloved cafe has announced it is shutting its doors next week after seven years of serving customers in Saddleworth.

Station Brew, on Shaw Hall Bank Road, just across from Greenfield train station, will close its doors for good on Monday (September 30).

The cafe has been up for sale since the end of last year, with owner Jackie Hetherington saying she was looking to retire.

Now, in a post on the cafe's social media pages, Jackie said it had been "quite the journey" since the cafe opened in 2017, as she thanked her family, staff, local suppliers, and customers.

She wrote: "I have so many people to thank who have been at my side at different times throughout this crazy time.

"Too many to name but most importantly my husband John who launched into this with me in the first place but tragically died suddenly only a few months after we opened.

"And my wonderful daughter Sophie who picked up the pieces during such grief and held it all together for me with positivity and strength."

Jackie said that due to "the current economic situation and ongoing staffing challenges" she had made the decision to shut down and focus on other matters in her life, including her family.

She concluded the post by writing: "I know Station Brew will be missed and I know I will miss it and all of you too but life goes on and hopefully the space we have created will be used by someone else with new ideas and energy to develop and move forward with another exciting new venture for everyone to share."

More than 100 people have left comments praising the cafe and thanking Jackie and her staff.

One commenter wrote: "Wishing you all well and it’s been a pleasure to have been able to enjoy your food and your great service. You will be missed."

Another commented: "Oh no! My favourite cafe! The staff are always so welcoming and the coffee is the best in the area! Well done to everyone involved over the years, for creating such a delightful place."

Another commenter wrote: "Sorry to hear this, by far the best place for breakfast in Saddleworth."

Station Brew will be open between Thursday (September 26) and Sunday (September 29) this week and customers are being urged to visit the cafe one final time before its closure.

The business is no longer for sale but the cafe space is available to lease through Sovereign Business Transfer Ltd.
