A fire has broken out at an industrial unit in Failsworth this afternoon, Saturday.

Fire crews were called to a blaze at a commercial building on Duke Street.

Seven fire engines arrived at around 3.10pm and taped off the surrounding area.

Firefighters extinguished the flames with crews still in attendance as they dampen down hotspots.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known and no injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 3.10pm on Saturday (September 21) seven fire engines from Hollins, Ashton, Chadderton, Philips Park, Stalybridge, Blackley and Salford fire stations plus the hydraulic platform from Oldham fire station were called to reports of a fire at a commercial premises on Duke Street, Failsworth.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three jets to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance to dampen down any remaining hotspots and to make the area safe.”
