Competitors taking part in this year's Saddleworth Santa Dash event could share a special moment with Oldham-born rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield.
Former Leeds Rhino star Sinfield, who will be coming through Uppermill on his own challenge in aid of motor neurone disease (MND) causes will spend some time with the Santa Dash entrants before setting off on his run again.
The start of the Santa Dash event on Saturday, December 7, will be launched shortly after Sinfield, 44, and his team have continued their run.
The CBE winner has raised more than £15m for MND research in recent years, taking on a series of gruelling running challenges following the diagnosis in December 2019 of his former Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow, who died aged 41 in June.
In addition to money raised for good causes that the organisation the Round Table, supports, £2.50 from every ticket sale will go to help people with MND.

Sinfield said: ”It’s great the Round Table are supporting our challenge and MND.”
Andy Rothwell, who leads the Santa Dash for Saddleworth Round Table, added: ‘We are delighted to team up with Kevin for this year's event, we look forward to seeing Kev on his home straight just before the beginning of our home Santa Dash.
“Tickets for this year’s Santa Dash can be bought from the online link, the last few years have been a sell out so get your tickets quickly."
