Oldham Council has revealed a new free Autumn/Winter events programme.
The programme is packed with family favourites and new surprises, all aimed at fostering community spirit and supporting businesses.
A highlight of the refreshed lineup is Nostalgic Oldham a new event set to take place across several popular venues in the town centre on Saturday, September 28.
This event, part of the 175th anniversary celebrations, will offer visitors a trip down memory lane with timeless games, live music from various decades, an old-fashioned circus, and classic Mini Coopers.
The event will also feature vintage hair sessions at Tommyfield Market, strolling performers along the High Street, face painting, crafts, a sports day, a virtual reality studio, a retro arcade, and the return of the Spindles Brick Show, showcasing impressive Lego builds from across Manchester.
Businesses such as Billingtons and the award-winning Fox and Pine will also be participating, with the former hosting a Saturday Soul Music Club from 3pm and the latter offering live music from Kieran McMahon between 1pm and 3pm.
Both venues will serve nostalgic northern food.
The Half-term Halloween Trail will return from Saturday, October 26, to Sunday, November 3, offering a spooky journey through the town centre with the chance to win prizes.
The popular Oldham Halloween Half Marathon will also make a comeback on Sunday, October 27.
A new Family Firework Evening is planned for Guy Fawkes Night on Tuesday, November 5, replacing the traditional bonfire at Oldham Edge.
The event will feature entertainment and crafts from 4pm to 6pm, followed by a firework display.
The Christmas Light Switch On event will take place on Saturday, November 16, with a family funfair, entertainment, music, food, and the Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm.
Council leader, Cllr Arooj Shah, said: "Oldham has a vibrant and proud community spirit, and we are excited to bring back some of our favourite events while adding fresh new experiences and events for residents to enjoy.
"The Autumn/Winter events are our top programme of activity to help benefit residents, local businesses and visitors – aiming to bring footfall into the town centre.
"Oldham is a fantastic place to live, work and visit and we have created this series of activities that caters for all ages, which will benefit the economy right here in Oldham.
"We’re excited to welcome everyone to these fantastic events, and I’ll certainly see you there."
Further details on the events will be shared on the Love Oldham Facebook page.
