An apartment block of flats where a bar used to sit in Royton could be transformed into a hotel, new planning documents reveal.

The former Oddies bar on 12 Union Street in Royton closed down in late 2019 and was later converted into a block of nine apartments the following year.

The apartment block is made up of nine separate units across two storeys, each with a bathroom and an open plan or separate living, dining and kitchen area.

There are five one-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom apartments, providing accommodation for up to 13 to 26 people if each room has double beds.

However, a new proposal submitted on August 29 this year outlines changing the use of the flats into a hotel.

The plans, submitted by Mayfair Properties Manchester Ltd on behalf of the applicant, reveal the flats are currently occupied but that there will be no changes to the current layout of the site.

The nine car parking spaces outside the apartment block will also be retained if the site is approved to be used as a hotel.

There have been no public objections to the plans at the time of writing.

Oldham Council is yet to give its verdict on the proposal.
