A man from Gaza who managed to flee the ongoing conflict and reunite with his wife from Oldham is trying to help is injured brother escape from Palestine.
Hani Abualqaraya arrived in the UK in February after managing to leave his homeland months after the conflict between Hamas and Israel broke out.
He was reunited with his wife, Afshan Abubakar, and has been residing in the UK ever since.
However, Hani has lost 16 family members in total as a result of the conflict and is now trying to help his brother, Mahmood, escape the war-torn area as he is in need of an operation on his leg.
Hani has set up a GoFundMe page to try and raise £5,000 for his brother to get to Egypt where he can receive hospital treatment for fractures to his leg.

On the page, Hani wrote: "I have organised this campaign to help generate funds to get my brother out of Gaza for an immediate operation on his leg.
"Without the operation, the infection will spread and my brother will face amputation without antiseptic and there's no guarantee that he will survive. He is in desperate need for the operation on his leg."
Hani Abualqaraya left his hometown of Gaza and moved to Manchester in February 2024 - 5 months after the genocide began. He’s lost 16 family members so far. Now he’s found safety and is recovering from his injuries, he wants to tell you his story.

According to Hani, Mahmood, 25, is living in a tent in Deir al-balah, southern Gaza, and due to a lack of medical treatment and food available, he is in poor health.
Hani says that Mahmood was injured as a result of an Israeli strike in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
All funds from the GoFundMe will be sent to Mahmood to help him enter Egypt from Rafah, according to Hani.
