On Wednesday (September 18), Oldham Council's planning committee will meet for the first time in two months.

And this month's meeting is set to see decisions made on some major applications across the borough.

From the redevelopment of an old mill to a restaurant looking to extend its opening hours, here are the three key applications to be decided on.

Mill's future to get delayed verdict

The future of an Oldham mill is finally set to be decided on, two months after a verdict was postponed.

Plans to redevelop Ivy Mill in Failsworth into an apartment complex with around 100 flats were on the agenda for the planning committee meeting in July, where they were recommended to be rejected.

This was due to a disagreement on affordable housing and open space between the developers and the council, however a last minute offer to include 10 affordable homes saw the decision pushed back.

Now, Ivy Mill's future will finally be decided on, with committee members recommended to approve the application.

Restaurant looking to extend hours

A cafe and restaurant situated on public grounds is looking to extend its opening hours.

The Grandpa Greene's restaurant at the King George V Playing Fields in Uppermill opened in June last year after a divisive planning application was approved.

The restaurant, named Green's Bistro and Parlour, is currently allowed to be open between 9am and 7pm every day, but it is looking to operate 9am and 9.30pm from Thursday to Sunday.

The proposal has been recommended for approval, despite some residents sharing concerns over the impact this would have on noise in the area.

Dozens of affordable homes could be developed

A decision is set to be made on plans to develop dozens of new affordable homes at a storage site in Oldham.

Plans to build 29 houses and an apartment building with 24 flats have been proposed at Bedford Mill, accessed from Holt Street in Waterhead.

All 53 of the units would be made available under the affordable housing provision under a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership schemes.

This application has also been recommended for approval to committee members.
