A country pub and restaurant which sits in a picturesque village near Newhey and Milnrow has gone up for sale as the landlords say they 'fulfilled their dream'.

The Bulls Head on Lane Bottom is a traditional family-run restaurant and pub which has sat in the hamlet of Ogden since around 1756.

The current landlord, Peter, became a chef at The Bulls Head in 1991 and then head chef in 2000.

He then "fulfilled his dream" by taking ownership of the premises in June 2008 with his family.

Now, the premises is up for sale for £659,995.

The listing, brought by Sovereign Business Transfer, says the property benefits from a "landmark trading position", has "impressive character" and is "substantial" in size.

The ground floor is comprised of a restaurant area, catering to more than 54 covers, a public bar of up to 44 covers and a commercial catering kitchen.

There is also an elevated beer garden and lawn area.

The first floor then makes way for the three-bed owner's accommodation, with a family-sized kitchen and diner, sitting room, bathroom and conservatory overlooking the south Pennines. 

Outside, the pub has a customer car park with space for more than 40 cars.

The Bulls Head has already earned its stripes as a popular pub with an "excellent reputation" with "impressive levels" of year-round trade.

All the meals served in the pub are cooked homemade which has proved a hit with customers, earning the pub an impressive 4.5 average star rating on Google reviews.

According to the listing, the pub makes an annual gross turnover of around £340,000.
