The following planning applications relate to some of the biggest development stories in Oldham over the few weeks.

Decommissioning of Grade-II building approved

The process off decommissioning the Grade-II listed building which has been occupied by Barclays bank until recently has been approved.

The doors to the bank's branch closed back in May and now works can begin to remove the external signage and ATM machine, alongside Barclays signage on a letterbox.

The works will also impact the windows, stonework and internal furniture.

All works will look to "involve the minimum intervention" and preserve the state of the building.

New HMO gets green light

A terraced home is set to be converted into a house of multiple occupation (HMO) after plans were approved by Oldham Council.

The current home operates as a two-bedroom property on Old Road, Failsworth, but it will now be converted to hold four bedrooms, with one existing room being split into two and the former living space also to become a bedroom.

The plans also outline a side door being filled in with bricks, and patio doors being added to the rear of the property.

There will be a shared bathroom on both the ground floor and first floor, with an open plan kitchen and living area on the ground floor.

Plans submitted for new HMO

Another HMO could be on the way after plans were submitted to turn a house on Hulton Street, Failsworth, into a five-bedroom HMO.

The plans were submitted to Oldham Council towards the end of August and would see major changes to the interior of the home.

The ground floor currently has a dining room, a living room and a kitchen, while the upstairs has three bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

However, the new proposal would see two bedrooms on the ground floor, replacing the dining and living rooms.
