An axe-and-knife-wielding attacker was sentenced for attempted murder in Middleton.
Joshua O'Dea, 34, from Moston, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Friday.
According to Greater Manchester Police an axe-and-knife-wielding O'Dea attacked his victim at a caravan in the town towards the start of this year. He attacked his victim because of an argument about money.
The victim, 24, was able to run from his assailant but not before suffering serious injuries.
On Friday, after a trial which came to its conclusion last month, O'Dea received a sentence of 27 years imprisonment. In addition to the sentence of 27 years imprisonment he has an additional five years on licence.
Detective Constable Chauhan said: "I am pleased the sentence reflects the brutality of O'Dea's actions and the zero-tolerance approach we take to violence in Greater Manchester.
"Anyone who seeks to bring harm to others will be brought before the courts and GMP will exercise every power at our disposal to ensure the offenders are brought to justice."
