A 21-year-old man from Glodwick has been charged after a "suspected firearm" was found.
Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Oldham Challenger team discovered the weapon in the Glodwick area.
And now Mohammed Muktar Raji, of Mansfield Road, has been charged with possession of a firearm and remanded in custody.
Oldham Challenger is part of a wider GMP programme which tackles serious and organised crime including the buying and use of firearms.
