A person in their 20s from Oldham died after falling from the balcony of an apartment in Berlin, an inquest has heard.
At Rochdale Coroners Court yesterday (Wednesday, August 28), the inquest into the death of Ashiq Khan, 26, was opened by senior coroner for Manchester North Joanne Kearsley.
Police coroners officer Kathy Dixon told the court that Khan, who was a social worker, had died whilst they were in the German capital on July 22.
The court heard that Khan, who lived on Cambridge Street, had travelled to Berlin last month to celebrate their birthday, which was in June, and was staying at a rental apartment in the city with two friends.
Ms Kearsley said that Khan may have taken a quantity of drugs on the night of July 22.

It was heard that Khan stepped out to the apartment's balcony and fell around six stories.
Emergency services were called and Khan's death was confirmed before they were repatriated to the UK.
Ms Kearsley said further investigations were ongoing as the exact circumstances of Khan's death were unclear.
She said it was also unclear whether Khan's friends were from the UK or in Germany.
Ms Kearsley did not set a date for a full inquest, instead saying it would be confirmed at a later date once more information was gathered.
