A director from Oldham has been banned after his business illegally employed someone and failed to pay a large fine.
Sufi Khan, whose last known address is listed as Laxey Close, Chadderton, was a registered director of Shere Khan (NW) Ltd when it was found to have been employing someone who did not hold the right to work by Home Office Immigration Enforcement (HOIE).
HOIE said Mr Khan breached his duties as a director by failing to ensure the company complied with legislative requirements in that it did not abide by statutory obligations under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
As a result of the offence, the company was handed a fine of £15,000 for employing the worker, which was due to be paid by July 19, 2021 but Shere Khan (NW) Ltd failed to pay the sum in time with the requirements.
Due to the company's failure to pay, the 50-year-old director was banned with the Insolvency Service notice stating this is for a period of five years starting from August 19.
The ban means he will be unable to work as a director for any company registered in the UK or an overseas company that has connections with the UK or be involved in forming, marketing or running a company.
Breaching the ban means Mr Khan could be fined or sent to prison for up to two years if he breaks the terms of the disqualification.
