Hard Rock Cafe launched a breakfast menu last month, so I went down to try it out and left feeling pleasantly surprised.

Heading into the restaurant, I'll admit I was apprehensive about what to expect from the new menu.

With Hard Rock Cafe being more of an American brand and their usual menu reflecting as much and me being a northern girl who grew up on full English breakfasts, I thought: 'How good can it be?'

Boy was I wrong.

The manager of the Hard Rock Cafe's Printworks venue had selected a range of the menu for us to try out, including smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, American pancakes with fresh berries and cream, smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast, berries and yogurt granola and the main event, a full English.

Now, while I wasn't alone and was accompanied by my sister, we only have small appetites and so had to limit ourselves to a small amount of each dish, but we both wished we could manage more.

First up, the pancakes, fresh berries and cream.

The pancakes themselves were perfectly fluffy and not too sweet and the fruit joining them tasted fresh and included the biggest raspberries I may have ever seen and a deliciously sweet compote.

The cream with them was airy, thick, fresh and clearly not just out of a can, holding its shape the whole time we were there.

Next, we tried the avocado and eggs on toast, and just to be clear, I personally have never been a fan of avocado, finding the texture too strange.

I did give it a try though and found it was well balanced as did my sister, who loves the stuff, saying it was gorgeous and as were the poached eggs.

After this we moved on to the smoked salmon bagels and this time the situation was reversed with me loving salmon and my sister despising it, which I was thankful for once I tasted them and wanted them all to myself.

The salmon was tender and flavourful and the cream cheese complimented it along with the rocket also featured in the dish.

We then tried the yoghurt, berries and granola which was the perfect ratio of the three ingredients and fresh flavours in all of them.

We then tucked into our most anticipated dish, the full English, which wasn't your typical version and had more of a modern twist.

It wasn't unwelcome though, with some changes still making for good features, such as tater tots instead of hashbrowns but with the crispy balls still being enjoyable.

We also had a try of two of their signature morning mocktails, the first being a delightfully sweet and spicy chilli, lime and pineapple mix and the second being a cool mint and cucumber addition.

Overall, its definitely a worth while stop if looking for an enjoyable breakfast, with excellent service and the unique musical décor also adding to the experience.
