Oldham legal firms O’Donnell Solicitors and Wrigley Claydon have teamed up with Francis House Children’s Hospice to provide a will-writing service.
The hospice, which supports families of children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, has partnered with solicitors across Greater Manchester for the initiative.
Participating solicitors will draw up a simple will or amend an existing one in exchange for a suggested donation to the hospice, offering a significant reduction on standard fees.
Rachel Damianou, head of powers of attorney at Wrigley Claydon, said: "Will month is a great opportunity to get your affairs in order and thus reduce stress and complications for your loved ones, whilst also making a donation to ensure the future of such a fantastic charity."
The donations from this campaign help support more than 600 families and children from across the region who rely on the hospice’s services.
These services include respite care, homecare, sibling support, end-of-life care, and emotional and bereavement support.
Legal experts will be on hand to offer guidance on Will creation, particularly helpful for those needing advice on the inheritance tax band and possible implications of a legacy gift to the hospice.
Jill Waddington, head of the private client team at O’Donnell Solicitors based in Uppermill, said: "Charitable giving in Wills offers a number of benefits, including leaving a lasting legacy, tax advantages, and the fulfilment of philanthropic goals.
"We are proud to support Francis House during the Make a Will Month campaign and provide the opportunity for people to leave a lasting legacy."
Susie Poppitt of Francis House Children’s Hospice said: "None of us wants to consider our own mortality, and it’s all too easy to put off making a Will but we owe it to those we love to ensure that they are properly provided for under the terms of a Will.
"Having a Will in place makes things as easy as possible for them at such an emotionally challenging time."
Francis House relies heavily on donations and legacies to continue providing its invaluable support to families.
Ms Poppitt added: "As well as making provision for the future of your loved ones, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you’ll be making a real difference to families throughout the region whose children are cared for by Francis House."
Participating solicitors, which include AST Hampsons in Bury, Glaisyers ETL in Manchester and Bromleys in Ashton Under Lyne alongside O’Donnell Solicitors and Wrigley Claydon, will be offering their services free of charge during the month-long event.
‘Make a Will Month’ runs from September 1 until September 30.
