There were 'huge celebrations' at The Blue Coat School in Oldham today as students, their families and staff welcomed an 'excellent set' of GCSE outcomes.
More than a third of all GCSE examinations were awarded grades 9 to 7 (former A*/A) with 84 per cent of the year group also achieving a grade 9 to 4 in English and maths while 62 per cent achieved the EBAcc qualification.
Emily Hohmann and Ben Watkinson achieved grade 9s across the board, with both achieving 11 grade 9’s – an accomplishment only achieved by 145 pupils across the entire country.

Francesca Lloyd and Caleb Pennystan also achieved 10 grade 9s across their subjects.
All four students will be continuing their studies at the Blue Coat School's Sixth Form next year with Emily and Caleb both studying chemistry, biology, maths and further maths.
Ben will study computer science, maths, further maths and physics while Francesca will take on psychology, biology, chemistry and maths.
Scarlett Hill and Poppy Blair also achieved fantastic GCSE results after both spending five years balancing academic studies with sporting commitments and success.
Scarlett, who plays football for Manchester United and England, achieved five grade 9s, four grade 8s and one grade 7.
Scarlett has signed a contract with Manchester United under 21s for next year but will also continue to study at The Blue Coat Sixth Form.
Poppy is part of the England 2024 gymnastic senior squad and regularly trains with the rest of her teammates at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
She achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and three grade 7s in her GCSEs.
Poppy will also continue her studies at The Blue Coat Sixth Form next year, with both girls choosing to study biology, psychology and PE.
Headteacher Rob Higgins said: “Once again our pupils have performed incredibly well at GSCE and have achieved some fantastic results.
"We are incredibly proud of every single one of them.
"These results have been five years in the making and over that period this cohort have had to endure significant disruption to their education, so to achieve such excellent results demonstrates how resilient and hard working they have been and also how well they have been supported by staff at the school and their families at home.
"Many of our young people will stay with us at Blue Coat and join our outstanding Sixth Form.
"We can’t wait to welcome them back and have no doubt that they will once again go on to achieve exceptional A-Level results in two years’ time.
"For those students not staying with us for A-levels, we wish them the very best of luck on the next stage of their journey."
Mr Higgins added: "On behalf of the class of 2024, I would like to extend a huge thank you to their families for all the help, support and encouragement that they have given them.
"I would also like to thank all the staff at the school for the hard work, commitment, dedication and nurture that they have provided for our pupils over the last five years.
"The five years at the school has been a very different journey for each and every one of our young people but they all complete their Key Stage 4 journey with us experiencing success and we couldn’t be prouder of them all.
"We wish them much joy and happiness for the future.”
