A grammar school in Oldham is ‘immensely proud’ of the success of students in their A-level results and has surpassed the national trend.

Oldham Hulme Grammar School students have received an ‘exceptional’ set of results this year, and have stood out against national results.

With 20 per cent of grades being A*s, up by seven per cent on last year and bucking the national trend, which has seen A* grades fall, the school has surpassed the national trend.

Overall, 43 per cent of the school’s grades were A* to A and 67 per cent were grades A* to B along with 75 per cent of the students receiving acceptance into their first choice university.

Principal Tony Oulton said: “To say we are proud of this year’s cohort is a massive understatement.

“We are delighted but unsurprised at these results, having witnessed the hard work and tenacity of our students and because of the exceptional support they have received from our staff.”

Among the outstanding achievements, 15 students received all A*-A grades, a testament to their dedication and perseverance.

Mr. Oulton added: "More important to us, however, are the individual successes and achievements that lie behind those brilliant statistics.

“The Class of 2024 leave Hulme with our admiration and very best wishes.

"Today I also want to thank subject teachers and members of the pastoral team here at Hulme, as well as the brilliant exam team and the many other staff here whose commitment to supporting our students to be their best and achieve their best has been so unwavering."
