A popular cafe which sits in a repurposed textile mill in Saddleworth's Diggle village has teased a new venture may be coming to the area.

Diggle Lock on Huddersfield Road is renowned for its 'good-mood' food and brunch items, 'mighty fine coffee' and a whopping French toast challenge which has attracted a famous YouTuber and Guinness World Record holder.

BeardMeatsFood demolished the 7lb 'brick' French toast, which is made up of an entire Pullmann loaf and stacked with an abundance of toppings, in just 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, Leah Shutkever from Birmingham, Great Britain's number one female competitive eater with more than 30 Guinness World Records to her name, finished it off in nine minutes and 31 seconds.

The brunch spot has also proved popular amongst residents since owner and chef, Jamie Collins, first opened the premises in 2019 with an aim to provide a laid-back venue with restaurant-quality food from locally sourced ingredients.

Now, the restaurant has teased it is branching out with a new venture called Delve by Diggle Lock on the cards.

When contacted by The Oldham Times, the restaurant did not divulge what Delve will be or where it will be located, but a new social media page says it is "coming soon" to Delph Village.

Another post revealed it is hiring for staff at both locations "due to the exciting expansion of Diggle Lock and Delve", including a manager, assistant manager, barista, chef, kitchen assistant, pot wash, front of house servers and bar staff.

Villagers who are celebrating the news also pointed out Delve "is the old name for Delph" with many saying they were "excited" to see what it is.
