A suspected stolen van was found by police “abandoned in the middle of the road.”

Officers say that the white van was found in the middle of Lees New Road on the border of Oldham and Tameside on the afternoon of Saturday August 2.

They say that it was found in the area by a police community support officers and was linked to the Tameside area.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “St Mary's PCSO Andy Bigland located a stolen vehicle this afternoon on Lees New Road on the border of Oldham/ Tameside.

“This vehicle had been abandoned in middle of the road and was showing stolen from the Tameside Division.

“The vehicle has now been recovered.”

An image supplied by police at the scene shows the white van being towed away.

But so far, no further details have been released about who may have stolen the vehicle.

This comes after long running concerns about vehicle thefts as well as anti-social driving around Oldham and across Greater Manchester in recent months.
