Oldham Sea Cadets are hosting an open day on Sunday, August 11, with a mix of activities for the public.
The day offers creative workshops, family games, and impressive engine demonstrations from 10am to 3pm.
The event will be held at the Oldham Sea Cadets unit on Yates Street, Derker.
Sergeant Danny Angle, the officer in charge at Oldham, said: "This is a great day out for the whole family to experience first-hand what Sea Cadets get up to twice a week.
"It’s a fantastic opportunity to get to know other young people in the area and you’ll make some great friends and learn new skills that will give you a great head start in life and will really boost your confidence."
Sea Cadets has successfully enabled thousands of young people between the ages of nine and 18 in Oldham to gain valuable nautical skills.
The organisation runs programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, BTEC, and RYA-accredited courses.
Beyond teaching sailing and nautical skills, the Sea Cadets also provide an environment for young people to progress and develop.
The unit focuses on five significant areas for well-being - connecting with their community, being active, self-awareness, learning new skills, and supporting others.
As a result, cadets can balance, build confidence and resilience, leading to improved mental health and wellbeing.
Regular meetings are held on Monday and Thursdays from 7.15pm to 9.30pm at their Yates Street premise.
