All of these cases involving people from Oldham or crimes committed in the town have been before the magistrates or crown courts in recent weeks.

An Oldham man has been jailed for entering Manchester city centre.

Ahmed Bashir, of Hollinwood Avenue, Hollinwood, was issued with a criminal behaviour order for a separate crime at Bolton Crown Court in September 2020 which prohibited him from going into the city centre.

On June 8, the 22-year-old disobeyed the order and went into Manchester.

On the same day, Bashir was found to be in possession of cannabis.

Two days later, on June 10, Bashir appeared in court, where he admitted to having the cannabis but denied entering Manchester city centre.

At Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on July 15, Bashir was found guilty of breaching the criminal behaviour order and was sentenced.

He was jailed for 26 weeks and ordered to pay court costs of £600, while the cannabis was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.

A teenager from Oldham has been referred to a youth offenders panel for stealing a motorcycle.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stole the Kaaway Superlight motorcycle, which was valued at £2,000, in Oldham on June 29.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court on July 15, the teenager pleaded guilty to the theft and was referred to a youth offenders panel for 12 months.

A young man who was carrying a knuckle duster and drunk driving has been sentenced.

Alfie McDonald, of Parkstone Avenue, Whitefield, was driving on Thackeray Road in Oldham on June 6 last year when he was found to be over the legal drink driving limit.

The legal limit for drink driving is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath and McDonald was recorded as having 61 micrograms of alcohol in his system.

The 20-year-old was found to be in possession of a knuckle duster and cannabis when he was stopped.

McDonald was found guilty of drink driving, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of Class B drugs back in April and on July 19 at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court, he was sentenced.

He was handed a community order requiring him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, while his licence was endorsed with 10 points.

McDonald was also ordered to pay £520 and a victim surcharge of £114, while the knuckle duster and cannabis were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
