A popular Oldham pub has reopened after closing down almost five months ago, and has some exciting new owners.

The Black Ladd pub closed in March after the previous owners experienced financial troubles.

However, it has been given a new lease of life now that new owner, Amy Barnie, has opened  its doors once again.

Amy also owns The Dysarts Arms in Mossley and the Sycamore in Ashton-under-Lyne and has worked in pubs since she left school, waitressing at first and then working the bar once she turned 18 years old.

She then began to manage other people's pub for a while and finally bought her first pub, The Dystarts Arms, in 2019 and has continued taking on more ventures ever since.

Amy said: "I saw that The Black Ladd had closed and I thought, 'That's such a shame'- you can't just close a pub like that forever, it can't be lost.

"So I thought, well I have a couple of other pubs anyway and I have the experience so shall we just have a go and re-open it?"

Amy had the keys to the pub for a few months before the re-opening and has made the effort to refurbish the venue.

With new carpets, fresh paint inside and out, The Black Ladd looks ready and rejuvenated for its next chapter.

After officially opening last week on Friday, July 19, they also launched their new food menu the next day, with a British theme throughout with a few modern international additions, meaning there's something for everyone.

The menu features classics such as beer battered cod, steak and ale pie and sirloin steak as well as more modern favourites such as king prawn linguine, pan-seared salmon fillet and vegan risotto.

After the first week of opening, the 40-year-old landlady said: "It's been brilliant, we've had a really good response, it's been all over Facebook it's been really great."

She said that many previous regular customers have returned and said how pleased they are the pub is now open once again.

The Black Ladd pub is on Buckstones Road in Shaw, with reviews stating its location offers 'views for miles'.
