An update has been issued on Metrolink services after land movement displaced tracks near Derker.

The problem was announced on Tuesday, July 8 and services have been suspended since July 9.

Due to land movement, the track has been moved meaning it is unsafe to operate service across the section, between Derker and Shaw and Crompton.

Bee Network have said now that the land movement has slowed they have been able to carry out detailed ground investigations.

They said: "To get trams running again, a small section of track has to be moved back into its original position. The overhead line poles also need to be repaired.

"The detailed ground investigations will establish whether further work to strengthen foundations beneath the track will be needed at a later date."

They also added that this work is expected to take up to five weeks to complete but that they are looking to accelerate repairs.

No trams will operate between Rochdale Town Centre and Oldham Mumps until the repair work has been completed.

On the wider service, the trams will operate as normal between East Didsbury and Oldham Mumps, with a replacement bus service between Rochdale and Oldham.
