A couple who already run a popular pub in Oldham have announced they have taken over another premises in the borough which will 'open soon'.

Stacey Lightfoot and Mick Wilkin have been running The Spinners Arms on Woodbrook Road, Springhead, for almost eight years, during which the pub has gone from strength to strength, with several accolades under its belt.

In 2021, it was crowned the 'Best pub in Saddleworth North' at the Saddleworth Pub of the Year awards and last year, won a JW Lees 'Community Pub of the Year' award.

The Spinners Arms has also earned its stripes in the area and among residents as a top Sunday roast spot.

Now, the pair say they are "delighted" to be taking on another venture, The Three Crowns pub and restaurant on Huddersfield Road, Scouthead.

A poster for the change in hands reads: "The Three Crowns Pub and Restaurant, under new management.

"We are opening soon".

In an announcement on social media, Stacey and Mick also said: "We will be running this alongside The Spinners, so we're not leaving.

"There is much work to do, so we will keep you posted as regards an opening date.

"We look forward to welcoming you, see you soon."

Reacting to the news, residents said they were equally as delighted that the pair will be in charge.

Larry Wells wrote: "Well I will be coming in. It's nearer to me so good luck Mick and co, I know that you will make a success of it like you have The Spinners."

Helen Greenough added: "That's us never moving house now with two fantastic pubs in walking distance. Good luck guys."

Steve Lightfoot also said: "All the confidence in you, Mick and Stace."

The Spinners Arms has been contacted for comment.
