The emergency services were called into action after receiving reports of people jumping into the water at Dovestone Reservoir.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) attended the area at around 5pm on Friday.
They were responding to reports of people jumping into the water at Dovestone Reservoir on what was one of the hottest days of the year.
Swimming is not allowed at the reservoir in Greenfield, Saddleworth, as is the case with all the reservoirs in the Peak District National Park.
☀ The weather's lovely today, so what better time to remind people about our #WaterSafety campaign.

Stay safe around water this summer. If you encourage your mates to go in the water it could be the last time you see them. Cold water shock kills even the strongest swimmers. pic.twitter.com/K8A4ImxR01
A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "Just before 5pm on Friday, one fire engine from Stalybridge, along with the technical response unit from Ashton, were called to reports of people jumping into the water at Dovestone Reservoir.
"Firefighters assisted colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to remove a group from the water's edge and assisted to try to remove another group of people from the water's edge. Firefighters were in attendance for two hours."
A spokesperson for GMP said "no crimes were committed".
