Two Oldham schools have been recognised for their work at a multi-academy trust's inaugural Staff Impact Awards.

Both E-ACT Royton and Crompton Academy and E-ACT The Oldham Academy North clinched accolades.

The celebratory event, held at Dulwich College in London, saw teachers and staff crew gather for the announcement of award winners across 11 categories.

Jessica Giraud, headteacher at E-ACT The Oldham Academy North (TOAN), received the Secondary Headteacher of the Year award, cited for her inspirational leadership and efforts in community engagement.

She was specifically praised for creating a safe environment catering to staff and students' wellbeing.

Jessica Giraud said: "It’s lovely to personally receive this award and I feel very honoured, but the success of our academy is really down to the whole team.

"I’m proud to lead a group of dedicated teachers and support staff."

Concurrently, the Leadership Team of the Year (Secondary) award was handed to E-ACT Royton and Crompton.

Gemma Cottingham, headteacher at E-ACT Royton and Crompton, said: "Their tenacity and commitment to delivering excellence is outstanding, as displayed when they successfully managed two rigorous inspections within just four weeks.

"We’re really lucky to have such a talented group of professionals and I’m very proud to be working alongside them."

The awards, hosted by comedian and writer Lucy Porter, stood as a testament to E-ACT's "people first" culture.

E-ACT’s chief executive Tom Campbell added: “The evening was not just about the awards, it’s a celebration of our collective spirit and the incredible impact we have when we put our people first.

"Each nominee has contributed to making E-ACT an outstanding place of learning, and I am immensely proud of all our staff.”
