All of these cases involving people from Oldham or crimes committed in the town have been before the magistrates or crown courts in recent weeks.

A man has become the second Oldhamer to be jailed for stealing two sofas from an apartment block in Salford.

On August 16 last year, two sofas worth £1,000 were stolen from the X1 The Landmark apartment building on Oldfield Street in Salford when two men entered as trespassers.

On February 16, Jason Stewart, 39, of Greaves Street, was jailed for 10 months for the burglary along with two separate thefts.

Now, a second man has been jailed for his involvement.

John McDonagh, of Siddal Street, Oldham, was sentenced at Tameside Magistrates' Court on July 12 for both the burglary and for failing to appear at the court on May 2 as part of his bail conditions, both of which he had pleaded guilty to.

The 35-year-old was jailed for 16 weeks and was ordered to pay compensation of £500.

A teenager has been referred to a youth offenders panel after he was caught carrying two knives in Oldham.

Kyle Taylor, of Calderbrook Way, Oldham, was on a street in Failsworth on February 2 last year, when he was found to be carrying both a Stanley knife and a kitchen knife.

The 18-year-old also had cannabis on him.

At Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on July 9, Taylor was sentenced for two counts of possession of a bladed article and one count of possession of a Class B drug, all of which he had previously pleaded guilty to.

Taylor was referred to a youth offender panel for six months and the knives and cannabis were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.

A woman who disclosed a private sexual image of a man has been sentenced.

Shannon Lowe, of Lilac Avenue, Rochdale, began her offending against her victim on July 30 last year, when she damaged a number of items belonging to him in Oldham.

Then, in early November, the 25-year-old disclosed a private sexual image of the man without his consent.

Lowe appeared at Tameside Magistrates' Court on July 9 having previously pleaded guilty to criminal damage and disclosing a private sexual photograph or film with intent to cause distress.

She was handed a 12-month community order, requiring her to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and attend 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

She was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and court costs of £85.
