Patients at an Oldham GP, which has now closed down, have rated the practice the worst for showing "care and concern".

Only 59 per cent of patients at The Duru Practice, which was based in the Integrated Care Centre on New Radcliffe Street, said they felt they were shown "care and concern" by healthcare professionals.

The data was released in the GP Patient Survey 2024 which was released this week and is an annual report into the feelings of patients at GP Surgeries nationally.

The practice closed down in March earlier this year after "special measures" were introduced by regulator, the Care Quality Commission, which had rated the quality of care inadequate.

As well as this, Dr George Duru was suspended by NHS England from its Medical Performers List.

The decision was then made by NHS Greater Manchester to close the practice, and any current patients were made to find new practices.

Patients also said that the receptionist and administration team at The Duru Practice were the second least helpful in Oldham, with only Werneth Medical Centre rating worse.

Werneth Medical Centre was also rated the second worst for treating patients with "care and concern" in appointments- with only 63 per cent of patients saying they felt this was the case in their appointments.

A total of 27 per cent of The Duru Practice's patients also said that phone calls went unanswered when attempting to call the surgery.

Also, the practice came joint with Alexandra Group Medical Practice for the second worst-rated practice overall, with only 48 per cent of patients saying their overall experience at the practice was "good".

Patients were asked whether their surgery was "very good", "fairly good", "neither good nor poor", "fairly poor" and "very poor" across a range of questions, including the amount of care they were shown.

The survey was taken between January 2 to March 25 this year and out of 18,472 surveys sent to patients, 3,825 were returned completed meaning the response rate was 20.7 per cent.
