A major road in Oldham will be closed overnight for two weeks from next Monday, the council have announced.
Motorists will not be able to use Oldham Way between 8pm and 5am from Monday, July 15.
A council spokesperson said: “Oldham Way will be closed overnight both ways for 14 nights from Mon, July 15, 8pm-5am, between Manchester St roundabout and Prince St.
“Surveys and drainage checks, along with street lighting maintenance, will be carried out. Apologies for the disruption.”
The works are a mixture of council-led inspections on the bridge over Waterloo Street and maintenance carried out by EOn streetlighting.
The roads will be open as normal during the day.
But drivers will need to divert through town via Emmott Way at night, causing minor delays.
The closure has sparked frustration among Oldham drivers.
The town recently endured closures and temporary traffic lights on Oldham Way for more than 18 months.
Essential works were carried out along the highway to "future-proof" Oldham’s roads after "structural issue" were discovered in many of the town’s fly-overs.
One frustrated resident, who uses the road for an early commute to Salford, commented in an Oldham Traffic group: “At this rate I’ll have to go via Dukinfield to get to work, shambles.”
Another said: “God when will this be over!!”
The roads should be fully open by Tuesday, July 30.
