Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) has celebrated its 60th anniversary with an open day event.

Families visited the team's Greenfield base on Saturday, July 6 and learned about their skills and saw first hand the vital lifesaving equipment.

And the team were delighted to see so many on such a miserable day of weather.

Many guests, especially children, had great fun climbing and abseiling on the climbing walls, and children and adults alike had fake wounds painted which made people double take if they were real.

A team spokesperson said: “We'd like to give a big thank you to our partner organisations Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service, with whom we work regularly and who were in attendance with their vehicles and equipment.

"And we'd like to thank a team from St John's Ambulance who kindly taught visitors some valuable lifesaving CPR techniques.

“And of course, we would also like to thank our supporters at The King Bill, Greenfield, for putting on such an excellent bar and barbecue.

“The team thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and we hope all those that came had a great time!

"Many thanks again to visitors, partners, and supporters for making it a great day.”

The team was also joined by representatives from South Pennine LDWA (Long Distance Walking Association) who presented them with a donation of £1,000.
