Trams running between Oldham Mumps and Rochdale "will remain suspended until further notice" due to unstable land making travel on the Metrolink unsafe.
On Tuesday (July 9), Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said the section of the Metrolink line had been suspended due to "land movement" between the Derker and Shaw stops.
Now, it has been confirmed that the stretch of stops will continue to be suspended until further notice, with the issue "unlikely to be quickly resolved" according to TfGM.
The track itself and other equipment have been affected and investigations are currently taking place to identify the cause of the issue, with specialist teams also being called in to help fix the problem.

Pete Sommers, TfGM’s Network Director for Metrolink, said: “I'm sorry for the impact this will have on people's journeys. The decision to suspend services is not taken lightly but is absolutely the right thing to do to ensure the safety of our passengers, staff, and the wider public.
"We are working hard to understand what is causing this and ultimately how we fix it, but this is a complex and serious incident that is unlikely to be quickly resolved. We will of course ensure customers are kept fully up to date and will provide further information as soon as we have it."
It means that no trams will go beyond Oldham Mumps until the issue is fixed, with TfGM not issuing any timescale.
While the tram stops are closed, customers are able to use their tickets on local bus services or a replacement bus service, with a dedicated information page being set up for passengers to get the latest details.
The issue coincides with disruption to the Metrolink throughout this month, with suspensions of sections of the trams on the last two Sundays of July, along with industrial action planned for three days in late July.
