A new takeaway is set to be opened at the site of a food shop after plans were given the green light.

Back in May, an application was submitted to convert the double-fronted Al-Emaan Food Store on Featherstall Road North into a hot food takeaway in one unit and a retail shop in the other unit.

Now, the proposal can go ahead after plans were approved by Oldham Council's planning body.

Floor plans show that the current site has an unused area, which would become the home of the takeaway, with some seating set to be available at the unit for diners to eat in.

Apart from the redevelopment of the unused area into the takeaway, the only other major works which would be carried out would be the installation of a fume extraction flue at the rear of the property.

The applicant had requested for the opening hours of the takeaway to be between 11am and midnight each day of the week, however permission has been given for the business to operate between midday and midnight seven days a week.

The planning documents did not specify what kind of food the takeaway would serve or how many people it would employ.
