During the month of June, some serious and dangerous criminals in Oldham were put behind bars for some shocking crimes.

From a domestic abuser to the regional supplier of a drugs gang, here are the most dangerous criminals from Oldham to be locked up last month.

Thug threw ex-partner into shop window

A man from Oldham who assaulted his ex-partner on seven occasions, including dragging her by the hair along a street in North Wales before throwing her into a shop window, has been jailed.

Steven Halliday, 45, from Shaw, began a relationship with his victim in March 2021, but his behaviour then changed as he became more aggressive and coercive.

His assaults included punching her in the face, kicking her and pouring coffee over her, as well as pulling her by the hair and smacking her head into a shop window in Rhyl in August 2022.

On June 4, Halliday was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Mold Crown Court for controlling and coercive behaviour and was handed a 10-year restraining order.

Drugs gang supplier put behind bars

An Oldham man who was the wholesale regional supplier of a Manchester-based drugs ring has been jailed.

Craig Ganson, of Fernhurst Street, Chadderton, supplied cocaine and heroin to the gang, purchasing at least 11kg of cocaine and 2kg of heroin, valued at over £400,000, from his suppliers between April 2, 2020 and June 10, 2020.

The 43-year-old went by the handle "paperboard" when communicating with other through encrypted mobile phone conversations.

Ganson was sentenced to seven years and 10 months in prison at Minshull Street Crown Court on June 13 for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

More time in prison for man in early 20s

A young man from Oldham who was imprisoned for driving at a couple has been handed more time behind bars for an assault and stalking.

Joshua Bunn, 22, was jailed for four years and seven months back in January for attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and dangerous driving back in September 2020.

Whilst he was on bail for those offences, Bunn, of Windmill Close, Royton, stalked a woman for a period and assaulted her.

At Minshull Street Crown Court on June 24, he was given two more years in prison for the offences and was handed a restraining order for 10 years.
