Dovestone Reservoir named UK's second most scenic dog walk

The pet insurance company decided to find the UK's most popular dog walks by using social media to see which had the most posts.

They began with an initial list of 200 routes and then used Instagram and TikTok posts to see which were the most scenic.

As a result, they named Oldham's Dovestone Reservoir as the second most scenic route in the UK. 

Dovestone Reservoir, on the edge of the Peak District, has many different walking routes around it, all varying at levels of distance and ease to complete. 

Perhaps the easiest route is the main walk around the reservoir which remains fairly flat and takes around an hour.

For those more ambitious and with bigger dogs, Dovestone circular is a 9.5km route which stretches round all three reservoirs and up past famous spots such as Greenfield waterfall and The Trinnacle.

Petsure's researh showed that of the 200 initial routes, Dovestone Reservoir had the second highest amount of Tik Tok posts on the hashtag, #DovestoneReservoir.

Users uploaded videos showing the Oldham hotspot in all of its glory, and even featured some of their furry friends they took with them.

Dovestone can be accessed by car with parking available nearby at Binn Green carpark and the main Dovestone carpark.

The site also has its own holiday park with glamping pods, cottages and lodges available to stay in. 

Nearby pubs, The Clarence and the King William IV Hotel make great spots to cool down and grab a bite after the long trek.
