A bomb squad attended an Oldham street this afternoon (Thursday, June 27) with people evacuated from their homes.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) responded to reports of an explosive device being found at an address on Kelverlow Street in Clarksfield.
A bomb squad was called in and people were forced to evacuate from their homes as the old ammunition shell was dealt with.

The scene was eventually stood down and the cordon was lifted, with people allowed to return to their homes.
GMP had said in a statement that emergency services were called to Kelverlow Street in Oldham while Explosive Ordinance Disposal were tasked with inspecting the property.

Several houses in the area were evacuated and people were asked to avoid the area.
At around 4.30pm, GMP announced that the incident was stood down and the cordon was lifted.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were approached for a comment.
