A residential home is set to become a six-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO), but plans for an extension have been delayed.

In April, plans were submitted to convert the dwelling on Hulton Street, Failsworth, into an HMO.

Plans show the two-storey building would have three en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor, with three further en-suite bedrooms on the second floor, while the kitchen and living area would be in the basement.

A certificate of lawfulness application was submitted which covered the conversion of the property into a HMO and a proposed ground floor extension to the rear of the building.

An application report prepared by an Oldham Council planning officer that the change of use from a dwelling house into a HMO was appropriate, however the extension was deemed to require full planning permission.

This was due to the fact the dimensions of the extension would exceed the limits which would allow for it to fall under a certificate of lawfulness.

The plans were formally approved on Thursday, June 20.
