Pupils at Medlock Valley Primary School have been taught how to be safe around construction sites.

Countryside Homes, part of the Vistry Group, visited the school along with its affordable housing provider, Great Places Housing Group and CPC Project Services.

The companies discussed the dangers that can arise on and around construction sites, as well as how site workers protect themselves while building new homes.

The second visit they've done to the school, they began their education sessions in October 2022 when work first began on the 187 new homes at Hartshead View.

The developments are being built by Countryside Homes and are available on for open market sale.

Some of the properties are made available by the affordable housing group, Great Places Housing Group and Sigma Capital’s private rental brand, Simple Life.

Joe Turner, Managing Director, Manchester and Cheshire East, Vistry, said: “Ensuring the safety of local residents and children is vital when building a new development, particularly as we all know how inquisitive young people can be about construction vehicles.

"Our assembly helps to stimulate the pupils’ interest in building homes, whilst making sure they know how to stay safe near building work and the risks to be aware of when out and about in their local area.

“We’re really thankful to Medlock Valley Primary School for welcoming us back to speak to the pupils.

"We’re proud of our developing relationship as we move to the next phase of the build at Hartshead View and look forward to continuing to work together in the future.”

Mica Vanden, Assistant Development Project Manager at Great Places, added: “Social purpose is at the heart of everything we do at Great Places, and we were delighted to come along to speak to pupils to talk about the real life dangers of a working construction site, particularly with our Hartshead site being so close to their school.

"We look forward to continuing our relationship as the project progresses and hope that our visit may have sparked interest in becoming the builders, surveyors and site managers of tomorrow.”
