All of these cases involving people from Oldham or crimes committed in the town have been before the magistrates or crown courts in recent weeks.

A man has been jailed for stealing jackets from a shop in Rochdale.

Milan Kandrac, of Smyrna Street, Oldham, stole £325 worth of jackets from the JD Sports shop in Rochdale town centre on January 27 this year.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court on June 17, the 29-year-old pleaded guilty to theft and was jailed for four weeks, due in part to his "flagrant disregard" of court orders.

A man from Manchester has been sentenced after driving in Oldham whilst under the influence of cannabis and not showing up to court.

Aiden Richardson, of Briardene Gardens, Wythenshawe, was driving on Oldham Road on May 5 last year when he was found to have cannabis in his system.

A few months later, on September 8, the 28-year-old failed to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court when required to do so.

Richardson pleaded guilty to the offence on April 26 and, at Tameside Magistrates' Court on June 17, he was sentenced.

Richardson was disqualified from driving for three years and was also handed a community order.

As part of his community order, Richardson must attend 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and carry out 108 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and court costs of £300.

A man has been banned from getting behind the wheel for drunk driving in Oldham.

Stefan Soltyk, of St Phillip's Drive, Royton, was driving on Oldham Road on June 15 when he was found to have 87 micrograms of alcohol in his system per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit in England is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, putting Soltyk more than twice over the legal limit.

The 33-year-old appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on June 17, where he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

He was disqualified from driving for 17 months and was made to pay a fine of £276, a victim surcharge of £110 and court costs of £85, bringing his total costs to £471.
