A woman has been left 'shaken up' after a driver reportedly caused a three-way carnage crash in Oldham and 'fled' the scene.

At approximately 5.50pm yesterday (Wednesday, June 19), emergency services were called out to Shaw Road and Brook Street following reports of a crash involving three cars.

Eyewitnesses further allege the driver that caused the crash "fled off" from the scene.

Photographs show two cars were left severely damaged.

A grey Renault Clio, which was reportedly travelling down Shaw Road when it was struck by another car from Spencer Street, sustained damage to its driver's side back door.

The impact caused the car to "spin 180 degrees" into oncoming traffic where witnesses say the car hit a black Vauxhall.

The Vauxhall then went "flying" into Brook Street after being hit on its driver's side, causing the windows to smash and the airbags to deploy.

Police and fire crews confirmed a woman was assessed by paramedics at the scene as she sustained "minor injuries" and was "shook up".

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a fire engine from Oldham Community Fire Service attended the crash at around 6.15pm.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "Firefighters assisted North West Ambulance Service in assessing one female and made the vehicle and surrounding area safe.

"Crews were in attendance for around one hour.”

Greater Manchester Police also said officers were called to the collision "between three vehicles" as of 5.50pm.

The spokesman added: "However, can't see anything about hospital - people were 'shook up', had minor injuries.

"I think one of the cars involved left the scene."

A family member of one of the victims in the crash has now issued a public appeal for any other eyewitnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

The appeal on social media reads: "This accident could have ended in a much worse situation; lives could have been lost and we’re hoping that the victims of the third [car] are recovering okay.

"It is going to be hard for all the innocents involved in this accident to recover from the shock and be able to get behind the wheel again."

The North West Ambulance Service has also been contacted for comment.
