The Saddleworth Steam Fest, an eagerly anticipated annual event, triumphed over the weekend despite intermittent rain showers.

The festival saw a turnout of 10 magnificent traction engines, much to the delight of enthusiasts and families who braved the weather.

The festival, organised by Saddleworth Round Table, is in its second year, and featured a range of activities and attractions, celebrating the heritage of steam power.

Attendees were treated to the sight and sound of these historic engines in action in Uppermill a variety of stalls, entertainment, and food vendors, and rides through the village.

The event also saw the return of canal barge tours along Huddersfield Narrow Canal, which are set to continue on weekends through the summer months.

"We're thrilled with the turnout and the community support," said a spokesperson for Saddleworth Round Table.

"The rain couldn't dampen our spirits, and we're proud to have raised at least £1000 for local good causes."

The funds generated from the event will be directed towards various charitable initiatives in the Saddleworth community, continuing the festival's tradition of giving back.

The success of this year's event, which took place over Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, ensures its place as a new staple in the local calendar, eagerly awaited by steam enthusiasts and residents.
