Staff at a cafe based in an Oldham park have been left "heartbroken" and "devastated" after announcing the closure of the business.

The Woodlands Cafe, based in Dunwood Park, Shaw, opened just before Halloween in 2022, replacing Dunwood Park Cafe which had closed earlier that year.

However, The Woodlands Cafe has now closed its doors due to "the rising costs of food and other factors", leaving customers "gutted".

A post on the cafe's Facebook page read: "It’s with great sadness we are having to write this post, unfortunately our beloved cafe has had to close its doors for one final time.

"Due to the rising costs of food and other factors we just couldn’t go on.

"The entire team are absolutely heartbroken as we absolutely loved Dunwood Park.

"You welcomed us and made us feel at home and we can’t thank you enough."

The cafe added in a comment on the post that staff were "devastated" and they hoped someone would be able to take on the space to open a new cafe.

They added: "It’s just such a tough industry at the moment, money is tight for everyone, the rising cost of utilities and food is absolutely destroying businesses."

Dozens of comments were left by people who expressed their sadness to see the popular cafe close down.

One commenter wrote: "Oh my goodness what a shame, you’re so good and the food amazing."

Another wrote: "Gutted. It's been the perfect place to have a drink and food for me and my Mum."

The cafe was particularly popular with dog walkers who would visit after walking their pooches, with the cafe welcoming pets.
