A third man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting and stabbing in Oldham this month.

McCauley Brooker, of Southway in Eccles, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The 23-year-old has been remanded and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Friday, May 31).

The charges related to an incident on Busk Road on Wednesday, May 22, where officers were called to Royal Oldham Hospital's A&E, as well as to Busk Road, after a man presented himself with "gunshot wounds" and another suffered "serious knife wounds".

The news comes after 28-year-old Stephen Wilson, from Salford, and 33-year-old Jordan Aston were charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon on Monday (May 27).

The next day, police carried out a warrant at a at a holiday park in Abergele, North Wales, where two men, aged 22 and 32, were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The pair have since been released on police bail.

Another 28-year-old man was also arrested in Wales on suspicion of assisting an offender. 

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis from our Major Incident Team said: “We have made significant progress in this investigation.

"Seven arrests have been made so far with three men being charged and remanded.

"All three have been charged with attempted murder and one also charged with Section 16A Firearms Act 1968.

“This investigation is fast-paced and we are exploring several lines of enquiries, including information that has been passed to us following our public appeals.

“We are still appealing to anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101 quoting log number 3740 22/05/2024.

“Alternatively, details can be passed on anonymously to the independent charity - Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
