More than 100 villagers in Saddleworth got together over the weekend for a fundraising 'pied piper' beer walk.

On Saturday (May 25), a group of "fun-loving" and committed fundraisers added a colourful mosaic to a cluster of Saddleworth villages to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance.

The tradition was originally organised by the Saddleworth Round Table but was scrapped in 2011.

Since then, siblings Justin Brown and Angie Adamson have been stepping up to the mark, arranging an 'unofficial' beer walk through local drinking spots to fundraise for local causes.

Dozens of villagers could be spotted donning fancy dress on the 13th unofficial walk last weekend, from a crew of pirates to the locally renowned 'Chav Brass' band.

After assembling at Satellite Centre in Greenfield, they visited The Wellington and King Bill and then The Granby and The Commie in Uppermill before travelling to The Navigation and The Swan, Dobcross, The Old Bell and White Lion, Delph, The Gate, Díggle and The Cross Keys Uppermill.

They then adjourned for a disco at Uppermill Cricket Club.

Justin said: "We had a fabulous, wide range of creative fancy dress and raised hundreds of pounds this year for North West Air Ambulance.”
