The Northern Lights made a rare appearance across the UK last night, Friday, lighting up the sky and dazzling sky watchers in Oldham.
The aurora borealis could be seen after one of the strongest geomagnetic storms for years hit Earth, with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issuing a rare solar storm warning.
The phenomenon meant that Oldhamers were able to get an amazing sight of the stunning display, and people in the borough shared some amazing pictures they took.
Martin Robinson made his way up the moors to capture the spectacle, and in his own words said: "I'm so glad I made the effort to go to the top of the moors."
Martin described what he saw up in the moors as "insane".
Meanwhile in Chadderton, Louise P. took this picture, showing off the pink and purple in the sky last night.
Over in Royton, Stephen Scoltock caught this image, which showed just about every colour emitted by the Northern Lights.
Meanwhile, Melanie Lamb was seeing a reddish-pink over Oldham.
There was also a stunning image taken above Royal Oldham Hospital.
Thanks for all of our readers for their stunning shots of the Northern Lights across Oldham.
