All of these cases involving people from Oldham have been before the magistrates in the last fortnight.

A retired man who caused damage to the tyres of a man's car has been given an electronic tag.

John Brierley, of Parkfield Avenue, Hollinwood, was at The Red Lion pub in Burnsall, North Yorkshire, on March 16 last year when he caused damage to four tyres of a man's car, leading to costs totalling £1,120.99.

The 68-year-old pleaded not guilty to causing criminal damage in January and but was found guilty in March before being sentenced on May 2.

He was ordered to undergo a period of electronic monitoring, where he must wear a tag for eight weeks and stay at his address between 8pm and 7am each day.

Brierley was also ordered to pay compensation of £360.

A man who caused damage to a police car while he was drunk has been sentenced.

Joseph Rees, of Henshaw Street, Oldham, was drunk and disorderly on Mackintosh Way on March 30 this year, before causing £200 worth of damage to a police car.

On April 18, the 28-year-old was due to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court, however he failed to do so without reasonable excuse.

On April 26, Rees pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place, causing criminal damage and failing to surrender to court.

He was ordered to pay £200 in compensation for the damage to the police car and fines totalling £273.

A man has been jailed after shouting to a woman over her fence.

Nicholas Riley, of Yorkshire Street, Bacup, was in Oldham on April 20 when he shouted towards a woman who he was prohibited from contacting due to a restraining order.

The 32-year-old shouted towards the woman over her fence and threatened to set fire to her home.

Riley pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order and threaten to damage or destroy property at Tameside Magistrates' Court on April 29.

He was jailed for 10 months for the two offences.
