The following planning applications relate to some of the biggest development stories in Oldham over the past fortnight.

Takeaway approved despite neighbours concerns

Plans for a new hot food takeaway in Oldham have been approved, despite neighbours objecting to it potentially bringing 'cooking smells' and litter.

The plans will transform a ground-floor storage unit on West End Street into a hot food takeaway with a canopy duct.

The unit will have a large kitchen with separate cold storage, a counter, a customer toilet and several tables and seating areas.

As the site sits on a car park, it already has spaces to accommodate up to 21 cars.

Nearby residents raised concerns over smell, litter, anti-social behaviour and parking, however the plans were approved.

Former cafe turned into housing

A former cafe in Saddleworth which closed due to financial difficulties can become a one-bedroom flat, planning documents have shown.

Dome Cafe in Greenfield town centre opened in September 2022 on Kinders Lane, however it announced its closure in February due to financial difficulties, less than 18 months after opening its doors.

A proposal was submitted to convert the ground floor space into a dwelling, and these plans have now been given the green light.

New place of worship coming to town centre

A building which contains a mobility scooter shop is set to become the home of a place of worship after plans were approved.

The building where Eden Mobility Scooters is based on Henshaw Street, opposite to Tommyfield Market, has a lower ground floor space which will now be a place of worship.

The plans state that the lower ground floor space is owned by Dunamis International Gospel Centre Oldham branch, which is church headquartered in Nigeria and a registered charity.

No major concerns were raised and so permission has been granted to develop the space.
